Xavier Lust Cast Aluminium Candleholders
Driade - Italy, c.2003
About This Piece
This pair of candleholders was designed by Xavier Lust for Italian design house Driade and first introduced in the early 2000s. Cast in polished aluminium, each piece is formed from a continuous, flowing curve that rises from a weighted base to support a single candle, creating a sense of movement and balance even when unlit.
Minimal yet expressive, the design relies on proportion, line, and material rather than ornamentation. The sculptural form allows the candleholders to function both as lighting objects and as standalone design pieces within an interior.
Offered here as an early pair circa 2003, the surfaces show gentle signs of use that soften the metal and add depth to the finish, distinguishing them from current production examples.
