Brutalist Aluminium and Brass Candlesticks by Léopold - Spain, c. 1970s
A sculptural pair of aluminium and brass candlesticks by Léopold, produced in Spain in the 1970s.
Each piece is defined by a fluid, organic silhouette, narrowing through the centre before opening into a broad, stable base. A warm brass insert sits within the central aperture, creating a subtle contrast against the cool, matte aluminium exterior.
The interplay of materials and the asymmetrical, almost biomorphic form give the pieces a strong modernist presence, balancing function with a distinctly sculptural quality.
Designed at two differing heights, the pair introduces a natural sense of rhythm when displayed together, working equally well as functional candle holders or as standalone decorative objects.
