Silver-Plated Magnolia Candleholders
Italy, c. 1970s
A sculptural pair of silver-plated table pieces by Orli, Italy, designed in the form of an open magnolia flower.
Each piece is composed of softly curved petals radiating around a central candle cup, creating an elegant botanical silhouette. The fluted petals catch and reflect light beautifully, giving the objects a luminous presence when styled on a dining table or console.
Originally conceived as modular flower ashtrays — a popular decorative table object in Italy during the 1970s — the petal elements can be removed individually. Today, they work beautifully as sculptural candleholders or decorative objects.
The textured centre evokes the heart of a blooming flower, while delicate leaf details add a subtle naturalistic touch. The reflective silver-plated surface enhances the sculptural quality of the design, shifting gently with candlelight.
These examples appear unused, with the silver plating beautifully preserved.
