Pair of Fluid Form Danish Modern Solid Brass Candlesticks
Denmark - c. 1960s
About This Piece
A refined pair of Danish modern solid brass candlesticks, attributed to Jens Quistgaard for Dansk, Denmark, 1960s.
Each candlestick has a slender tapered stem, flared candle cup and weighted base. The base has a fluid, almost softened quality, widening gently before rising into a subtle ringed detail — a small sculptural gesture that gives the otherwise minimal form its character.
Made from solid brass, each piece has a reassuring weight in hand despite its elegant, slim silhouette. The brass has been carefully and lightly polished while preserving a soft natural patina, allowing the pair to retain their warmth, age and character.
One candlestick retains the remains of an original paper label, though the printed writing has worn away over time.
A versatile pair for a dining table, mantel or console — elegant in use, but strong enough to stand as objects in their own right.
