Italian Silver-Plated Magnolia Candleholder and Modular Petal Ashtray, c. 1970s
A striking sculptural table piece by Orli, Italy, crafted in silver-plated metal and formed as an open magnolia flower.
Softly curved, deeply fluted petals radiate around a central candle cup, creating an elegant botanical silhouette. The reflective surface catches the light beautifully, giving the piece a luminous presence whether placed on a dining table, mantel or console.
Originally designed in the 1970s as a modular flower ashtray, each petal can be individually removed and used separately. The textured centre recalls the heart of a flower in bloom, while delicate leaf details introduce a subtle naturalistic finish.
Both decorative and functional, the design captures the playful sophistication of Italian tableware from the period. Under candlelight, the silver-plated surface shifts between bright reflection and warm shadow, further emphasising its sculptural form.
These examples appear unused, with the silver plating beautifully preserved.
