Charming Pair of Pewter Candlesticks by Brødrene Mylius
A wonderfully charming pair of Norwegian pewter candlesticks by Brødrene Mylius, model 36471, bearing the distinctive Pewter Norway and BM bird mark to the base.
There is something particularly lovely about their proportions. Each candlestick rises in a simple, elegant taper before opening into a shallow candle cup, while delicate engraved detailing runs around the rim and base like fine stitching or embroidery, bringing an unexpected softness to the solid pewter. The contrast between the clean, sculptural form and this almost textile-like decoration gives the pair their distinctive charm.
Made in Norway by Brødrene Mylius, the pieces embody the warmth and simplicity of Scandinavian pewter. Their softly luminous surface and satisfying weight make them wonderfully tactile, while the restrained silhouette allows the delicate detailing to shine.
At 15 cm high and 6 cm wide, they have an elegant, compact scale — beautiful on a dining table, mantelpiece, bedside table or console. Designed to take standard size dinner candles, they can also be inverted and used as charming little bud vases, adding a wonderfully versatile dimension to their design.
Both are hallmarked.
