Art Deco Smoked Glass Chevron Vase, Daum Nancy, c. 1930s
The piece is defined by its rounded body, softly flared rim and bold geometric chevron band wrapping around the centre. Formed in translucent smoked amber glass, the surface has a textured, almost granité finish that catches the light beautifully, contrasting with the smoother raised relief of the zig-zag motif.
The design is graphic yet restrained, with a strong Art Deco rhythm softened by the smoky tone of the glass. Its compact scale gives it an elegant presence as a standalone object, particularly where natural light can pass through the glass and reveal its depth and tonal variation.
The vase corresponds to documented signed Daum Nancy examples of the same model, sharing the same smoked textured glass, rounded body, flared rim, geometric chevron relief band and proportions. On comparable examples, the Daum Nancy France signature is very faintly placed to the base. On this piece, the base shows surface wear, making the original mark difficult to read.
In excellent vintage condition overall. The glass body presents beautifully, with no notable chips or cracks observed. The base shows surface wear from age and handling, consistent with the area where the signature would have originally appeared.
