N.V. Metawa Tiel Metal Vase

A sculptural Dutch Art Deco metal vase by N.V. Metawa, Tiel, formed with a stepped body, flared trumpet rim, and circular pedestal foot.

The piece has a strong architectural silhouette, with tiered sections and fine incised line detailing that give rhythm to the form. Its pewter-toned surface has developed a beautiful mottled patina, shifting between silver, warm grey, and muted greenish tones depending on the light.

Based in Tiel in the Netherlands, N.V. Metawa produced decorative and functional metalware during the early to mid-20th century. This vase reflects the restrained modernist language of Dutch decorative metalwork: structured, balanced, and quietly ornamental rather than ornate.
