(Model No. 289) France - 1934
René Lalique Alice Jewelry Tray
Designed by master glassmaker René Lalique in 1924, this press-molded glass jewellery dish (Model No. 289, historically cataloged as "Alice" or Cendrier Alice) is an exquisite example of French Art Deco design. The dish features a sharp octagonal outer border surrounding a smooth, recessed oval central basin.
Along the wide border are eight relief-molded medallions, each depicting a stylized female figure in dynamic movement, set against a background of rhythmic, radiating ribbed arcs. Originally created as an ashtray, its refined proportions make it a versatile luxury tray for fine jewellery, rings, or desk accessories.
The piece bears an original, crisp molded R. LALIQUE signature near the inner rim. Over a century old, it remains a timeless accent piece for collectors of René Lalique, vintage barware, or Art Deco decorative arts.
